Jonathan Nehring

Jonathan Nehring founded TaxaBall in his second year of law school at the University of Kansas School of Law. Heeding advice from many in the sports business world to "create your own niche" within the industry Jonathan combined his degrees in Accounting and Finance with his pursuit of a law degree to create a website focusing on tax law issues within the sports and entertainment world. Don't let his degrees fool you - he's an otherwise fairly interesting guy.
Although TaxaBall has expanded beyond Jonathan as sole author, he continues to be involved when his day jobs permit time. Through these day jobs, Jonathan has gained several years of experience advising on federal and state tax issues, specializing in tax controversy and tax planning. He also has advised in business sales, financials audits, and contract negotiations. In addition, he taught Business Law at the University of Kansas for two years.
Jonathan has discussed sports and entertainment tax issues beyond TaxaBall, appearing in publications including Tax Analysts' State Tax Notes and The New Yorker, among others.
When not researching tax or sports law issues, Jonathan uses his spare time cheering on this year's KU basketball squad with fellow NYC KU Alumni, researching sports analytics to prove why KU will win this year's Final Four, or negotiating with New York Mets fans on the proper amount of Kansas City Royals' gear acceptable to wear around the city. He was a freshman in 2008 when KU won the Orange Bowl and NCAA basketball National Championship and takes full credit for being the difference from the year before. He is rumored to have taught Mario how to shoot the 3.
